CLUB HISTORY

The Castlemaine Motocross Club officially formed in 1977, following many years as a local Castlemaine family’s training track, before being transformed into the course you experience today.

The first committee elected comprised of:

PRESIDENT: Ian Steel
VICE PRESIDENT: Alan Trounsen
SECRETARY: Kenneth Hammett
TREASURER: Frank Freeman
COMMITTEE: N. Flower, D. Honebone, E. Day, N. Backman and O. Peters

The first race meetings took place at Butt's Reserve at the base of Mount Tarrengower. Unfortunately the noise of racing drowned out the Minister's sermon in a nearby church so a move was recommended.

Soon after the Club commenced leasing the current track site on the Castlemaine - Maldon Road from Mr. Cliff Hayes.

Nestled in the heart of central Victoria, the Castlemaine Motocross Track offers an exciting and dynamic riding experience for enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. Featuring a mix of challenging jumps, fast straights, and technical turns, the track is designed to test riders while ensuring a fun and safe environment.

Surrounded by native bushland, the venue boasts a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere with ample space for spectators and competitors alike with established pit areas, and amenities, where many choose to extend their stay and camp overnight.
